What does "one of those dedicated types." mean?
"He's a kind of analyst's analyst, if you know what I mean. He's terribly attractive, but it's wasted - he's one of those dedicated types."

I can see this would be a confusing sentence! It means "like a lot of people he is dedicated to something".
Why 'those'? Well 'types' = a category of people or things having common characteristics.
Because people is plural then you must use 'those' as it is the plural form of 'that'.
Presumably to his job as an analyst? Although it might go on to say in the next line 'He loves his wife' or 'He really enjoys working for the company he works for' ... so without the full context it's not possible to be certain.
