What does eat around mean?
In the movie called Whiplash,
There is this conversation between the boy/main character and his father.
They're in a movie theater and eating popcorn.
A. I don't want raisin in it.
B. Why didn't you say that?
A. I just eat around them.
B. I don't understand you.
In this scene what does eat around mean?

It means exactly what it says. The boy has a container of popcorn with raisins mixed in. So the dad is telling the boy to 'eat around the raisins' i.e. to eat the popcorn that's around the raisins and to avoid the raisins themselves. There's no great mystery there!
