What is the difference?

Sono sveglio = I am awake
Mi sono svegliato = I woke up
Svegliarsi is a reflexive verb. You can't sei: sono svegliato alle 8:00 di mattina
You would use it this way: mi sono svegliato alle 8:00 di mattina.
