Is this correct, 'New Year's Day is January 1'?
Do we need to say 'New Year's Day is on January 1'?

If you are talking to USA person you don't need to specify the date. Just say New Year's Day if you are dong activity on that day. If you are doing festivities for New Year's Day on a different day then specify that as follows:
So "Join us for our New Year's festival on January 3 at 3 or state a time it will happen like 3-7pm.
