well, you're here allready now, search in wikibooks for some spanish course (free) then, search in itunes for some spanish learning podcast (free) then, try hearing a lot of latin music and seach for the lirycs in internet then, watch spanish movies and try to isolate phrases, dont go for word, it may not make sence! (theres a lot of idioms in spanish a well as it is in english but dont give up) find some language partner in italki that's pacient and want to help you even with the basics! Ok that's it!

Hello Andrew, You could start (if from the scratch) by taking some initial courses to get introduced to the basics of the language ,whether online courses or life courses with tutors in a spanish institute in your area . To improve your spanish language then , you could do some of the following : 1- Read simple books, articles etc in spanish. 2- Listen to spanish using any media ( songs, movies etc) 3- Chatting with native spanish people online using programs such as italki or in real life if you have the chance ,that would be very effective to catch the accent and learn new words . 4- Writing comprehensions in spanish using the vocabulary that you have learned so far . Good luck:)

I teach Spanish at a college level and the other day I came across an interesting resource website for people interest in learning the basics. They are trying to sell their product which I couldn't tell you how good it is but they also have a good amount of free information and exercises to get you started. http://www.studyspanish.com/ Buena suerte!
