Coca-cola, begun in an Atlanta drugstore in 1888, remains a powerful beverage company which merging with numerous smaller food producers.

you need a verb. Coca Cola, begun in an Atlanta drugstore in1888, remains a powerful beverage company which is merging with numerous smaller food producers.
Also, it would be better to say Coca Cola, which began in an Atlanta drugstore ....
