'She had earned their love'
I've recently read that sentence on Duolingo. It seems a little strange to me. Shouldn't we use the verb "deserve" in such a case? Thanks in advance.

"She had earned their love" is correct. The sentence is taken out of context, but basically what Duolingo means by "earned" in this sentence is that as a result of something "she" did or said, they now love her (when they previously did not).
