What is different between said and told and what is different between tell and say?

say = simply communicate by speaking
tell = inform, instruct, demonstrate, relate
- What did you say to her? (<= what words and phrases did you use?)
- What did you tell her? (<= what was the meaning of the things you said?)

Told and said =Past
"What was SAID to her John?"
"I TOLD her that I was hungry"
Say and tell =Present
"She say boil the water!"
"Tell her I said okay"
