钱钟书：《围城》

有人说，如果只能看一本中文书，那肯定就是曹雪芹著的《红楼梦》。那个家族的故事，就是社会的缩影，明白了人性，明白了政治，就是明白了中国社会的本质。从文学价值来看，对于那个"唯一的"， 它也当之无愧。但這并非说其他的书不好，中国好书和好作家太多了，三生三世也看不完，来生也可做中国人。 维基百科是这样说的 (繁体的，反正原作是用繁体写的): "作者以貴族家庭的興衰為主軸。為避免文字觸及時事，躲避清政府文字獄，於是虛構朝代，隱去真事，並以描寫閨閣女子來避諱。…《紅樓夢》主要描寫一個美好世界的興起、發展，和最後無可避免的悲劇性幻滅。" 所谓盛衰，都是人性和政治交织的结果。

Lu Xun is considered the greatest Chinese author of the 20th century and father of modern Chinese literature, but Mo Yan is extremely well-known, his books have been made into movies and he's won some very prestigious international awards.
