Claudia, I was about to answer as Najmo to be honest, but when I read in which text this word was used, I believe صوابيط here is the plural of صبط, which is the tall part of the plowing tool that peasants use in their lands. It's an old plowing tool that uses the strength of animals like bulls to move and plow the land. Do you think this is the meaning you are looking for? does it make sense?

I think this is the plural of صباط wich means in many Arabic dialects "shoe" صوابيط=shoes
