initiated spectator
What kind of spectator is an "initiated spectator"?
As such, a twofold status is proposed for Zone: first, as an imaginary, metaphysical boundary, there to be observed – in the dual sense of ‘contemplated’ and ‘heeded’ – in theory by the initiated spectator, but also potentially transgressed; and, second, as the demarcation of a border whose purpose is to facilitate rather than prohibit.

A naive spectator is uninitiated (no prior knowledge of the activity / task / skill etc)
A somewhat less naive spectator is initiated. (some [prior] knowledge of the activity / task / skill etc)
Initiated is "to introduce someone to (a particular activity or skill)", therefore here the "theory" in question should be "understood" by an initiated person.
