What does 'pound' mean in the sentence below?
I want to play an act called Facing Death by August Strindberg. Just near the climax of the play there's a question; "do you know how many candles there are in a pound, mass candles at seventy-five centimes?". Confused enough with what the main character means by the sentence above, I'm totally unable to understand how he cause a fire to burn himself. The play is in the public domain and I wonder if you could have a glance at it. Here's its link.

It's a unit of weight (454g). Presumably candles were weighed for sale in that time and place.
