What does this mean? What does "We shed so many dreams" mean? It is one of the lyrics from the song called Hands of Love sung by Miley Cyrus. Thanks

The verb 'shed' means to lose or let go of something, in the way that trees shed their leaves in autumn and snakes shed their skins as they grow. The implication is that we start off with our heads and hearts full of dreams. But we abandon these dreams as we go through life.
