More or less collocative?
"Enlightening revelation"
Can we use these words together?
Doesn't it sound rather cumbersome?
Can we say something like;
"It was an enlightening revelation to him, shedding light on the things he used to have no idea about.

Enlightening revelation isn't wrong, but is somewhat redundant and cumbersome. Especially, since your next sentence explains the situation using "light". I'd personally look for another adjective to describe the "revelation".
