Is this OK, 'The way is long'?
I'm talking about directions. Or is it better to say 'It's a long way'?
Thanks!

You can't say 'The way is long' in modern English. You might come across this phrase in an old song, for example, but you wouldn't say this nowadays.
'It's a long way' is fine.

"The way is long" has hints of a monk on dark road pointing out the way to the scared traveller :-)
"It is a long way" is more normal (includes it's)
