How to understand the word "Leo" in the following sentence, is it a movie's name?
Cinema-goers in the West are used to seeing majestic Leo, the roaring MGM lion, and comely Columbia, the torch-bering maiden meant to embody the United States, at the beginning of films.

This text is talking about the famous logos of the various film studios. The film studio MGM has a roaring lion, and Columbia has a woman with a torch. 'Leo' is the lion which is the symbol of MGM studios. Here is the wikipedia page about it:
