Comandante
Gracias.

And, keep in mind, in a Sheriff's department, there is only one Sheriff (el comandante). The others officers are "deputies".

Comandante is a military or policial rank means commander or its equivalent luteniant colonel. There are also firefighters and sheriffs with that rank. Comandante doesn´t mean sheriff but it could be his rank.
