If i would not answer literally i would say their most common ailment is neglect. Respect and care for the elderly was a fundamental value in many ancient societies. A very common problem which exaggerates the notion of loneliness is the deterioration of basic communication skills as hearing and seeing. Younger people shall realize that elderly often do not have the ability to understand our speech or see as clearly as younger do. Offering comfort, care and society to elderly is a high priority for a healthy society.
