Good question!
The meaning has changed over the years, but simply it means TO TRICK SOMEONE QUICKLY AND AGGRESSIVELY.
Another good one is TO TAKE CONTROL OF SOMETHING QUICKLY IN A WAY THAT WILL CHANGE AN OUTCOME.
