It depends on the context but we usually say for it,
1. 頭を空っぽにする (あたま を からっぽ にする)
2. 頭をスッキリさせる (あたま を すっきり させる)
3. 雑念を払う (ざつねん を はらう)

I agree Akiko's answer.
And we often use words, "refresh(リフレッシュ)" or "reset(リセット)" or "気分転換(きぶんてんかん)".
We use "気分転換(きぶんてんかん)" is changing or forgeting bad mind or things.
