Which word is most commonly used for the word 'village'?
I have come across quite a few words that all mean village, so I thought I would ask people on here which words are used most often:
村(mura), 里(sato), 古潭(kotan), 集落(shuraku, which means settlement), ビレッジ (which I would rather not use) and son( I couldn't find the kanji for this one).
So which word or words should I study the most for village?

I think 村(mura) is the word which is mostly used today.
the other ones are little be old fashion, where we cannot find the place today but sometime 里(sato) is the place you'll find.
By the way the letter of (son) in Kanji is exactly as same as (mura) and meaning is also.
