When we use "how do u do"? Hey, folks. I know that "how do u do" is used as a greetin n when we meet sb for the first time, but I was just wondering if we could also use that when we meet sb for the second time or whenever we see an old friend or sb we've actually met before? Thank you

It is a formal greeting for the FIRST time you meet someone. It is not appropriate to use at any other time. It's not common these days.

As Jerry said, "how do you do?" is a bit old-fashioned. But interestingly, the correct formal response to this is also "how do you do"

There may be occasions where it's ok to abbreviate "you" as "u." "How do you do?" is not one of them. That is a slightly more formal expression. Write out all three letters.
