Why is correct this sentence "There was many cookies."? instead There were many cookies.
I know "there was" is just for singular but the word "many" and "cookies" change the idea of singular

It is not correct. "There were many cookies" is correct. "There was many cookies" is something you might hear from a low level English learner?
