How it should sound in English?
Theater begins with a hanger" is a Stanislavski's quote. Stanislavski is famous Russian theater director, actor and teacher, reformer of the theater. However I translated his quote from Russian. Maybe English variant sounds different. Do you know this quote? How it should sound in English?

I don't know the quote. However, hanger meaning clothes hanger? If the quote means that theatre begins with the clothing/costumes then your translation makes sense.

In some places, I'm seeing it translated as "Theater begins with the cloakroom."
But the hangar translation is more common.
