What does "estimated shipping date" mean?

I have ordered a company to send a pocket for me through mail to one institution. They have told me that Estimated Shipping Date is January 06, 2017.
Could you please what this means. is this a date when they will send my pocket or the date when the recipient will receive my pocket?

Unfortunatley some people/companies sell items not in their possession.  So they have to order them, from their supplier, and then ship them to  you.  Sometimes this only adds a day or two, but it can add a significant amount of time, and I usually avoid them if it's something I need quickly.

Answer

The "estimated shipping date" refers to the tentative date that your item will be shipped from the company.  It is not a delivery date.
