Companies are not required its employees to have a checkup at a clinic??
In my country, all employees (except for part-time workers and workers on a temporary contract) have the right to have a physical checkup at a clinic or in some cases at work for free once a year. The employers have the legal obligation to do that. But I heard in Italy it is required only for certain professions. Is that true?

Yes, it's true. You have the obligation to get a physical exam only if your job requires a good health state, like soldier, airplane pilot, ...
Otherwise there's no point in offering phyisical checkups for free, because we all already have free family doctors and we pay a small amount for specialist exams (it depends on your income).
