what is the difference between in the list and on the list? is there any difference between? I am the firts "on" the list you are "in" my wedding guest list

I am a native English speaker, and I have never used the phrase "in the list". It is always "on the list". Where did you see the phrase "in the list"? Perhaps it was just a typo?

I agree with Melissa. I wouldn't say "in the list" in any context.
