I am not sure that the this is written is correct. Self absorbed is an expression to describe someone who only thinks of themselves, they are generally very selfish and don't consider others. BUT "self absorbed in my self" is not correct and does not make sense. Judging from the context I think the sentence meant to say "Whilst I am absorbed in myself..." This then takes on a different meaning. Rather than saying she is the sort of person who only ever thinks of herself generally as a personality type, she is saying that she is currently only thinking of her self at that moment in time. She is concentrating so much on her make up and how she looks that she doesn't notice the child looking through the door. I hope this helps, I knew where the text came from I would be able to help more.

Hi there, to be self-absorbed means to be thinking about yourself all the time. It is usually a negative thing to say about someone, and can mean that someone thinks about themselves all the time because they love themselves too much. However, it can also mean that someone thinks about their personal problems all the time as well. In the text above it would mean that the person is thinking about how good their appearance is.
