how to respond to "i am dealing with a family emergency" i said "hope things go well for you" is it a native way to say it? it's better saying "good luck", isn't it? what should i say to that person then? (we are not close) thanks.

Further to what Andrés has said - which is very good - you can also use the phrase "I wish you and your family the best of luck during this difficult time". It's acceptable to say that.

I would say 'I hope it's not serious'

Hi! I would say something like: I'm truly sorry to hear that, I hope everything turns out alright for you and your family.
