Understood or understand?
If I want to express that I understand what others said by using one word, should I response by saying "understood" or "understand"?

你好,Bing。Ildikó 说得对:你可以讲 "understood" 或者 "I understand"。"Understood" 这一个词就够了,但是 "I understand" 平常前面会加一个 "Okay"。比如说:
A: When baking cakes, it's important to first preheat the oven; otherwise, the cake will not fully bake.
B: Understood / Okay, I understand.
希望我帮了你忙。还有问题请别怕问 =)

Hi Beng Chin, if you only want to use 1 word, you would say, "understood" which is short for "it is understood." If you would like to use 2 words, you would say, "I understand." Of the two options, "I understand" is more commonly used.

It's either understood or I understand. Understood is a bit colder, very business-like while I understand is somewhat more friendly.
