John Milton was primarily an English poet, it is not often that he is referenced with religion. He was also a civil servant in England around the time of Oliver Cromwell. His works are of good quality and in the English literature world, he is very well known. His epitaph on Shakespeare was written out of respect and admiration for Shakespeare as Milton believed that Shakespeare influenced him and he admired his immortality as a writer.
