A yacht (pronounced "yot") is a small to medium sized sailing boat, equipped for racing or cruising. A yacht tends to carry a 'luxury' status, and they are usually privately owned. They are the kind of boat you may see moored in a luxurious harbour, with a sparklingly clean deck, leather upholstery and looks like a lot of fun to take on a day out. A 'traditional' pirate boat is usually very different large sailing boat, although who knows what modern-day pirates use!
