Is it ok? 'I had a cold because didn't cover myself well yesterday.'
I mean I didn't use the cover or quilt to cover myself well. Maybe it slipped away

Technically okay but sounds kind of awkward. Try replacing "cover or quilt" with blanket, just quilt, or something like that. I don't often hear people using cover as a noun, it's usually a verb.
