What is the meaning of "have...down" in this sentence? "I just didn't have you down as a career bitch. More someone who mucked around in a shop." I saw this sentence from the TV show Miranda. I have no idea of the meaning of "have you down" in this sentence. Could someone explain it for me? Thank you a lot~

Hi there! It basically means they didn't know or think she was a "career bitch". Like this: I didn't have you down as as an iTalki student! This means I didn't think you were an iTalki student. Hope it helps! David

The speaker basically didn't know the other person was a "career bitch". This little phrase, to "have someone down", is slang and it means to know something or make a guess about someone's personality and interests. I hope this helped!
