How do I list things I like to do in Japanese? For example, how would I say "I like to go hiking, swimming, and camping. "

I like to go hiking, swimming, and camping. In general I would say: わたしはハイキングをしたり、およいだり、キャンプにいったりするのが すきです。 or わたしはハイキングやすいえいやキャンプがすきです。 If you like only these three things: わたしはハイキングをすることと、およぐことと、キャンプにいくことがすきです。 or わたしはハイキングとすいえいとキャンプがすきです。 I hope this doesn't confuse you. If you have questions, please let me know.

The easiest way to discuss your interests in Japanese is to list them as your "hobbies." You can follow this form: 私の趣味は...です [watashi no shumi wa...desu]. Just add と [to] between each item in your list. You can also use the descriptor 好きです [suki desu] to say the things that you "like" but not necessarily that you "do." Here are some possible translations of your sentence: Suki form: 私はハイキングと水泳とキャンプグが好きです. [watashi wa haikingu to suiei to kampingu ga suki desu]. Shumi form 私の趣味はハイキングと水泳とキャンプグです. [watashi no shumi wa haikingu to suiei to kampingu desu]. There are other forms as well, but these are the ones that I have heard the most often. 頑張って! Greg
