The opposite of “underside” - for native English speakers.
The opposite of “underside” is not “overside” as far as I understand it. Is the common word for the opposite side of the underside "top side"?
How would you write the following sentence so that it was about the top side of the wings?:
‘The butterfly's wings have a mottled brown pattern on the underside’

Example: "and a striped pattern on top."

I would probably write it like this :
‘The butterfly's wings have a mottled brown pattern on the UPPER SIDE ’
