What does "otherwise" mean? Could you explain it to me? People may prefer to buy an otherwise identical shoe when the production process respects certain worker rights. What does "otherwise" mean?

'otherwise' is something like 'in every sense other than the one I just mentioned'. so 'otherwise identical' is identical apart from whatever was said before that. Without the context, that's not clear. Perhaps - it's identical other than the price?
