Times when a bad day was just a bad day
It's from the movie Logan (2017)
A farmer complains to Logan because some company wants buy his land he doesn't want to sell, so the company sometimes shuts off water. Also the farmer tells about a "corn syrup" which is "in those drinks that everyone's having to stay awake, cheer up, feel strong, sexy, whatever". After that the farmer says "Used to be a time when a bad day was just a bad day." And Logan responses: "Mine still are"
The phrase along with the response doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe it has some meaning I don't understand or those are just silly catch phrases?

I just couldn't understand why did the farmer mention a bad day during a conversation about a corn syrup. I liked the movie. It is like what movies about Wolverine need to be. Anyway it's the best Wolverine movie. It's not my favourite X-men movie though. Why were you guys dissapointed with it?

For Logan every day is a bad day.
We all have bad days occasionally, some people have more bad days than good.
Did you like that movie? I and my family were all disappointed with it.

I think the farmer is trying to say that before we had these energy drinks that would help make you feel "better", if you had a bad day, you would just have a bad day without taking any energy drink. Logan then says that he is still having bad days.
