Why I use Hanglie, Array Input method. (行列输入法 hángliè shūrùfǎ)
It's similar to Wubi input method. However, it's used for traditional characters, whereas Wubi was meant for simplified, though Wubi can also type traditional it's more difficult as the designers didn't have traditional characters in mind as much. The advantage of Hanglie / Array input is that you can type traditional Chinese characters without using Pinyin or Jyutping.
Advantage 1#
This is important if you're writing in another Chinese language with no phonetic input method. Eg. Minnanese, Wenzhounese... Shanghainese.etc 你好嗎? Nǐ hǎo ma? Shanghainese 儂好伐 Pinyin: Nóng hǎo fá, Shanghainese Transliteration (no official system): nong'ho,va'. etc. The characters and pronunciation are different, so it will be extremely inconvenient to use Pinyin/Jyutping to think and type in another language.
Advantage 2#
If you only type in Pinyin/Jyutping and not write Chinese characters, over time you can forget how to write them. These shape based methods, help you memorise radical, and strokes, how they go together and what order they are written in Hanglie (and other shape based methods) feels like writing. Pinyin and Jyutping feel like talking.
Advantage 3#
Unlike Phonetic methods, shape methods are more precise, leaving less room for the computer to guess what you're typing. Thus, you are less likely to make mistakes in typing than pinyin.
Advantage 4#
Sheer speed. People who use shape-based methods such as Cangjie, Dayi, Wubi, Hanglie etc. have been said to type at rapid speeds compared to pinyin typers.
