The difference between 이것 이거 이게
I believe that I've seen all these words but I'm not clear about the difference and I'm not sure how to use them. For example, can I say: 이것이 뭐예요?/ 이거 뭐예요?/이게 뭐예요?

이것 means "this, this thing"
이거 is a colloquial form of 이것
이게 is contracted form of 이거가
이것이 뭐예요? : normal form (이것+이)
이거 뭐예요? : colloquial form (subject particle 이/가 was omitted)
이게 뭐예요? : colloquial form(이거+가)
other examples
이것은 사과예요: normal form (이것+은)
이거 사과예요 : colloquial form (topic particle 은/는 was omitted)
이건 사과예요 : colloquial form(contracted form of 이거+는)
이것을 주세요: normal form (이것+을)
이거 주세요 : colloquial form (object particle 을/를 was omitted)
이걸 주세요 : colloquial form(contracted form of 이거+를)

이것이 뭐에요 and 이게 뭐에요 are the same. When you add ~이 to 거 it becomes 이게. 이거 뭐에요 is "이것 뭐에요?"
