Bună și Salut
I've just started learning Romanian a few days ago and I was told that the two greetings salut and bună are used for different genders. Salut is for men and bună is for women? Is this true?

When a boy greets a girl, he says ”bună”, but when he greets another boy, he says ”salut”.
When a girl greets a boy or another girl, she says ”bună”.
So, ”salut” is between boys/men.

Ahaha I had this question too!
I'd say a girl can say both bună and salut to anybody (my girls colleagues use them both every day), but a boy will not say bună to another boy, only salut.
