Is the adverb "wochenends" a real word? I can't find it in the dictionary, but I assumed it exists.

"Wochenends" is a colloquial expression, used in some German areas only. You can use it to explain what you usually do on weekends. But it would be better to say "am Wochenende" or "an Wochenenden".
