number of literature?
Is it to correct to say number/quantity of literature?
In this context, literature means documents to support a thesis.
"Please write the number of literature you referred."

"How many entries are there in your 'references' section?"
"How many pieces of literature did you cite?"

Literature is really a category that you generally don't put a number to. If you wanted to add a number, you might say pieces of literature, works of literature, literary references, etc.
