grammatically correct.
I would add a time frame marker at the end of the sentence, something like "more and more each year" (you can put it at the beginning of the sentence too "Each year, the government seems to pay attention to our town more and more."
"more and more" is also used with adjectives.
It gets more and more difficult to get a full time job each year.
