How would you interpret this sentence? How would you interpret the first sentence in the last passage ‘Too much is made out of the woman’s share’? Does it mean people pay too much attention to the woman? Thanks. And it’s from My Little Boy written by the famous Danish writer Carl Ewald. the context: “I want very much to be alone these days,” I say. “As if you were the one to have the baby.” “Aren’t I?” We both laugh. But I try to explain. “Too much is made out of the woman’s share, don’t you think? Because of the outward events, the nine months, the birth pains and son on. Northing sympathetic is ever said about the man. He walks up and down in the next room wringing his hands and feeling guilty. Fearfully he looks at the doctor or the midwife or whoever is around and gets only gruff responses….”

It means too much emphasis is put on a woman's role in pregnancy. Or people make too big of a deal out of a woman's role in pregnancy. From the following sentences you see that he thinks people should be sympathetic to men too.
