a four-top table
what does 'top' mean here? maximum four persons? Can I say 'a ten-top table' to mean 'a table for ten people'? Do you go to the restaurant and say 'Hello, we would like a ten-top table '? or 'we'd like to reserve a ten top'?

You're exactly right about the meaning. However, a patron would ask for 'a table for four, or ten,' etc.
A table for 'x tops' is restaurant lingo.

"Top" could refer to the position of the table in the restaurant. So you could say "Can I have top table, to seat 10 people, please ".
Or " Can I have a table for 10 people please."
