The Meaning Of The Sentence Help me, please, to clarify the sentence. What does 'to build it up from there' mean? 'I started a football team and encouraged the lads [CG] to build it up from there' The abbreviation 'CG' is puzzling as well.

Hi, it means to "develop from the point where you are at". Building up means, as it transpires, to move a project forward. "From there" makes a referece to a stated situation. In this case, the foundation of a team. Another example could be, when someone wants to learn a new language you could suggest "You should buy a coursebook and build up form there". Hope it helps
