question The Seneca exploded over Route 119 and rained fire on the countryside. It also rained body parts. A smoking forearm—Claudette’s—landed with a thump beside the neatly divided woodchuck. Question: In this case, can I replace 'divided' with 'separated'? If not, could you tell me the difference between them?

Yes, I think you can, they are much the same. I think that the sound of 'divided' sounds a little better. perhaps. Or perhaps 'severed' if you wanted to be a little more graphic.
