Can we say? " He is very joyful" to indicate that he's very happy. I think joyful is used when we wanna say someone causes other people to be happy.

Yes, and similarly joy = happiness

you can use joyful to mean happy, it has that feeling of bounciness to it as if he had a spring in his step due to his happiness.
