What is the difference between 色んな場 and 色んな場所?
Is 色んな場 just an abbreviation of 色んな場所? I found it in the following sentence: 色んな場で人々がこの表現を使っているのを聞いて、だんだん分からなくなってきたのです

Hello,
「色んな場」is used for situations, but 「色んな場所」is used for places, buildings, etc.
In your example sentence, it is refering to a situation. Therefore, 「色んな場」is used.
Hope that helps.
